Philippians 4:13 has spoken itself to me time and time again this season, as a multitude of believers are requesting this jewel of a verse be hand-stamped on their MTG pieces. What’s so awesome about its potential is that it invites a celebration of the glory revealed in our weakness, not our conquests. A pastor’s sermon I enjoyed during some research on Philippians 4:13 illuminated this: that in calling on the One who gives you strength to do all things, you are not boasting in self-confidence, but rejoicing in God-confidence. You are not in fact claiming “look at what I can do!” but rather, “Look at what God can do! For example, He overcame the shadow of death and proved it to us by the sacrificial and eternal love of His very own Son!” Philippians 4:13 releases our pride into the redemptive wonder that God’s strength gets your body moving each morning. His oxygen fuels your lungs, Jesus’ teachings and promises fill your heart. If you have another day on this side, thanks be to God. There’s something, that by His strength, He has for you to do…whether you “feel strong enough” or not. Give it to Him, and he’ll do all things good.
Grateful like you,
Lia
